Pete and Re-Peter: Freedom
"Hey, Pete! I am feeling kind of funny today...different," said Peter early this morning.
"Right?" Pete replied. "I feel loose. I feel light."
"Amazing…”
"Amazing!" Normally I am pretty stiff and slow this time of year when I get going in the morning. But this time around I have put hundreds of hours into stretching and meditation to help ease the struggles. I am tired of waking up tired!
"Thank you, Pete. You have really come through. Absolutely answered the bell. Tremendous work my friend. I am so glad you took the 11th step to heart. It has been a game changer."
"I couldn't have done it without you, Peter. You are strong. You are wise. You have protected me for a long time."
"Pete…"
"Yeah?"
"We aren't alone."
"I know. God and that whole relationship has been the answer for us."
"Isn't that the Truth? There were lots of people along the way too. There are still many that play a big part in all of this."
"You're right. We can't name them all, but they are all so important, even the ones that confuse us."
"Even, and in some cases, especially, those that confuse us. How else would we have learned some really BIG ideas, and experienced some really amazing miracles? You and I may never have become this close. How about that?"
"So true! And I have a feeling we are not done."
"Not…even…close…Bud!"
"Ha! We are going to have some fun."
"We are! And we are going to continue to put right-motive and right-thinking in front of our self-centered behaviors that only turn us around and inside-out."
"That's right, Peter. No more ice-cream, cookies, dates, or swearing."
"What the fuck are you talking about Cream Puff? We ain't going Monk!!"
"Ha! I was just testing. How about let's keep our side clean and keep pushing for Freedom!"
"Pete….I love that word! Freedom!"
"Freedom!" Pete screamed.
"Freedom! Let's scream it out today and forever. Scream it with me, Pete! 1….2…..3,"
"FFFRRRREEEEDDDDOOOOMMMM!!!!"
…and then Pete and Re-Peter went out into the world to kindly kick a bunch of ass.
